NCT U

NCT U tends to be the unit people have more trouble understanding.

NCT U is a circling unit. By this, I mean that TECHNICALLY all of the NCT members are part of it because anyone can join. It's open to all of the members and not just a specific amount or for a specific circle of people.

If you haven't seen one of the members in a NCT U track, it isn't considered of them to be in the unit.

The 7th Sense

NCT U first debuted in 2016 with the track 'The 7th Sense.'

this song featured 5 members.
Ten, Jaehyun, Doyoung, Taeyong and Mark

This was out first exposure to the unit and NCT as a whole.

Without You (Chinese Version)

NCT U released a track called 'Without You' and didn't take long after to release the Chinese version of the song.

In this version, we met the NCT U member 'Kun.' Although he is not featured in the video, his vocals were first exposed here.

The song was also sung by Doyoung, Taeil and Jaehyun.

Boss

Flash foward to 2018, NCT U dropped their powerful track 'Boss' featuring two of the new members!

This is where we met Lucas and Jungwoo! This confirmed their debut as NCT members and this is also where we welcomed them into our world.

Lucas was introduced as a rapper of the group while Jungwoo was met as a vocalist.

'Boss' was performed by Doyoung, Mark, Taeyong, Jaehyun, Lucas, Jungwoo and Winwin

Baby Don't Stop

After 'Boss' was released, they were already giving us another track called 'Baby Don't Stop.'
In this track, we got to see Ten once more along side Taeyong as a power duo.

This song was still promoted as an NCT U song because both Ten and Taeyong are part of the unit.

NCT 127

The 127 in their name stands for the longitude of Seoul, they chose this because that's where NCT first started and they only want to spread NCT's sound from there.

NCT 127 is also the only fixed unit in NCT which means, no members depart and no other members enter.

Firetruck

NCT 127 first debuted in 2016 as well but with the single 'Firetruck.'

'Firetruck' featured the members Haechan, Jaehyun, Taeyong, Mark, Winwin, Yuta and Taeil.

Ahhh now we have some familiar and NEW faces!

During this era, they released their first mini album that was self-titled 'NCT 127.'

NCT 127 Mini Album was released July of 2016 and featured seven tracks on it.
The Mini Album entered and peaked at number 3 on the Gaon Album Chart with 60,000+ copies sold.

New Faces

Well let me continue then!

Meet Johnny and again, Doyoung!

Limitless

Johnny debuted in NCT 127 in their next title track 'Limitless.'

Since Doyoung debuted in NCT U, this just means that he made his debut as A NCT 127 MEMBER in 'Limitless.'

'Limitless' was performed by Doyoung, Mark, Taeil, Yuta, Winwin, Taeyong, Haechan, Jaehyun and Johnny.

This time around, they released their second mini album named, 'NCT#127 Limitless.'

The mini album was a huge success as it topped both the Gaon Album Charts and Billboard's World Albums Chart.

It sold nearly 122,000 copies in it's first week of sales.

Cherry Bomb

NCT 127 gained huge amounts of popularity when releasing their song 'Cherry Bomb.'

The track became a massive hit and is known as "one of their best."

It is the most known song by NCT and has surpassed 52 Million views on Youtube, making it 127's most viewed music video.

'Cherry Bomb' is performed by Haechan, Taeyong, Taeil, Winwin, Yuta, Mark, Doyoung, Jaehyun and Johnny.

Their 3rd Mini Album 'Cherry Bomb' was then given to the world.

'Cherry Bomb' reached it's commercial success when it climbed up to number two on the Gaon Album Chart and having it sell over 127,000 copies within it's first week of sales.

2018

NCT 127 made their return in 2018 with their single 'Touch.'
This comeback took everyone by surprise as NCT 127 were usually known for their darker "bad boy" concepts, yet 'Touch' is very bubbly and soft.

'Touch' is performed by Johnny, Haechan, Mark, Winwin, Taeyong, Jaehyun, Yuta, Taeil and Doyoung.

Nonetheless, NCT 127 were back and didn't stop every since. Which leads to our next topic..

Japanese Debut

In May 2018, NCT 127 took to Japan to have a special debut and release an EP.

The album featured their Japanese title track 'Chain.'

'Chain' is performed by Johnny, Jaehyun, Yuta, Doyoung, Haechan, Winwin, Taeyong, Mark and Taeil.

Their Japanese EP was titled 'Chain - EP' and had nearly 50,000 sales in Japan during it's first week of release.

The EP also features 4 other songs including 'Limitless,' the Japanese version.

The album reached number two on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart.

This was their last project as a 9 member group before permanently adding Jungwoo into NCT 127.

New Member

Later in 2018, NCT 127 currently dropped hints to announce that they were having a comeback.
But also to announce that Jungwoo was the newest member of NCT 127!

NCT 127 took to Los Angeles to celebrate their comeback album 'Regular-Irregular.'
While in Los Angeles, they dropped their title track 'Regular (English version.)'

'Regular' is performed by Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan.

Regular-Irregular was released October 12 of 2018.

With a positive review in it's release, Billboard was already praising the album for it's diversity and how well it shows off each members skills.

Repackage

On November 13, 2018, NCT 127 tweeted to announce the repackage of their 'Regular-Irregular' album!

'Regulate' was now born and on it's way up the charts, having the boys of 127 get back to work with promotions.

The album even had a special throw in of a Korean version of their Japanese single 'Chain.'

The repackage album offered repeating tracks from 'Regular-Irregular' but also gave us new ones including their newest, powering title track 'Simon Says.'

Simon Says has currently reached over 7.4 Millions Views on it's Music Video in just a week.

'Simon Says' is performed by Johnny, Haechan, Mark, Winwin, Taeyong, Jaehyun, Yuta, Taeil, Jungwoo and Doyoung.

NCT Dream

The Dreamies, better known as NCT Dream, are the youngest members of NCT.

Since NCT Dream is not a fixed unit, this means that each member will graduate from this unit when turning 19, and they'll move up to the next.

Chewing Gum

NCT Dream were pretty young when they debuted with their first ever title track, 'Chewing Gum.'

'Chewing Gum' is performed by Renjun, Mark, Haechan, Chenle, Jisung, Jaemin and Jeno.

(Due to health problems, Jaemin went on hiatus after the release of 'Chewing Gum.')

However, their ages didn't seem to be a problem as they soon after released their first ever mini album, 'The First.'

'The First' featured 5 tracks, including both title tracks 'Chewing Gum' and 'My First and Last.'
They even included a special Chinese Version of 'Chewing Gum.'

The mini album managed to enter at number one on the Gaon Albums Chart during February of 2017.

My First and Last

NCT Dream's second title track 'My First and Last' was released quickly to serve as the albums main title track.

'My First and Last' is performed by Jeno, Haechan, Renjun, Jisung, Mark and Chenle.

The track made up over 10 Million views on it's music video.

We Young

Coming next was the era known as 'We Young.'

The Dreamies dyed their hair and put on a tropical house genre to welcome us in.

'We Young' is performed by Jisung, Haechan, Mark, Jeno, Chenle and Renjun.

Alongside the title track, they decided to drop their second mini album that stole the single's name, 'We Young.'

'We Young' served as the second 6/7 member album and served six new tracks.

Joy

To perfectly wrap up the crazy year they had, they dropped a cover of the famous Christmas jam, 'Joy To The World,' while shortening the title down to 'Joy.'

They even dropped a music video for it!

'Joy' is performed by Renjun, Haechan, Jeno, Chenle, Mark and Jisung.

This completed NCT Dream's activities in the year of 2017.

2018

With NCT U and NCT 127 having comebacks in the beginning of 2018, we knew it was bound to happen for NCT Dream.
Except, it wasn't really what we had suspected..

The Dreamies were back and so was Jaemin.
And it seems as if they had all grown up way too fast.

Go

NCT Dream came back blowing away people with their new darker concept rather than a cutsey one like they have done in the past.

(literally how is that even the same group of people)

This gave them a big exposure as people were starting to see what big of a change they had over the months that had passed.
'Go' ranked up over 18 Million views on it's music video.

'Go' is performed by Jeno, Renjun, Haechan, Chenle, Jaemin, Jisung and Mark.

We Go Up

Time was going by and it was going fast so people started to worry due to Mark graduating from NCT Dream.
Luckily, we didn't worry long since the Dreamies let us know that a comeback was confirmed.

An album was set to date, which meant a brand new title track was too.
That's when we got 'We Go Up.'

'We Go Up' is performed by Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Jisung, Jaemin, Chenle and Haechan.

Along came the album shortly after, which also was titled 'We Go Up.'

'We Go Up' entered the Billboard charts at number five and reached number seven on Heatseekers Album Chart.
Making this album, NCT Dream's best to date.

The album also featured six new tracks, including one titled 'Dear Dream,' which was dedicated to Mark due to his graduation from NCT Dream.

Candle Light

NCT Dream ended their amazing and powering 2018 with the track 'Candle Light.'

The track featured them all as an OT7 unit for the last time.

With this track being Mark's last one with Dream, people believed the music video dropped easter eggs of NCT Dream's past music videos as a reminder of all of the times Mark spent with them.

This wrapped up NCT Dream's activities of 2018 and of course, Mark graduated from the unit, making him no longer apart of NCT Dream.

WayV

WayV (also known as WeishenV) is the official China unit, of course, consisting of NCT's chinese members.

(It is unclear as to why Chenle and Renjun will not be participating in WayV's activities but we will continue to support the both of them in NCT Dream and WayV.)

WayV are special due to the fact that they are under two labels. They are under 'SM Entertainment' and 'LabelV.' They are added onto a second label because 'LabelV' can give them more access to certain promotions and opportunities in China.

This is the unit where you will meet the three new trainees of NCT!

(Hendery, Xiaojun, Yangyang)

Debut

WayV made their official debut on January 17, 2019 with the release of 'Regular,' the Chinese version of the previously released song.

The track gave us a powerful introduction to NCT's Chinese members, including the three new trainees, making this, their official NCT/WayV debut.

'Regular' is performed by Kun, Xiaojun, Winwin, Ten, Lucas, Yangyang and Hendery.

Dream Launch

Not too long after their debut, WayV dropped another music video for their track 'Dream Launch.'

The song is more smooth and on the softer side between WayV's three tracks, making it stand out.

The music video also shows off WayV's special bond with eachother as they all set their minds on traveling to this special place.

'Dream Launch' is performed by Xiaojun, Hendery, Lucas, Yangyang, Winwin, Kun and Ten.

Extension

With their debut, we recieved a extended play known as 'The Vision,' which showed off WayV's three tracks.'

This play consisted of 'Regular,' 'Come Back,' and 'Dream Launch.'

With 'Regular' and 'Dream Launch' being WayV's two title tracks, this helped them shoot up charts in both China and the US.
This occurred with 'Regular' at numbers #9 and #3 on Chinese QQ Chart and US World Chart, while 'Dream Launch' landed at #15 and #6.

Suspicion lead to NCT when NCTzens were said to believe that NCT 127's track 'Regular' was originally meant for WayV since it's release. This was realized when there was no "(Chinese Version)" spotted next to WayV's take on the song but there is "(Korean Version)/(English Version)" found next to 127's.

Although, there was never anything confirmed on this topic.
